The restroom and changing area is part of a completely new build designed to support sterile drug preparation, so it had to meet strict cleanliness standards and function efficiently for daily use.

Visually, the design leans into a light, clean, well-lit aesthetic. “Everything is white or light gray,” explained the center’s project manager. “It looks very sterile and clean.”

Creating a hygienic, professional atmosphere was intentional. The design team knew it was a priority for staff to feel calm and secure, so they chose materials that could stand up to frequent cleaning, resist bacteria, and support a sense of safety. The minimal palette also makes it easier to identify maintenance needs at a glance.

“Being a workplace, users need a sense of privacy and security to change into lab gear and use the restroom,” said the project manager. This is especially important because the changing and restroom areas are shared by all staff, without separation by gender.

The design team consulted closely with Scranton Products to select a higher-privacy, floor-to-ceiling layout and customize the color and texture to match the space’s clean, contemporary look. They also had to make the most of limited square footage. With dozens of employees relying on the facilities, smart planning allowed them to fit eight spacious stalls without the area feeling cramped or difficult to navigate.
